The Knights of Stringbury

Chocolate Chip Chamber Music introduces young children to the wonder and beauty of chamber music in a playful context that emulates the way preschoolers learn best. In this unique interactive mini-concert, an engaging storyline by Michigan-based educator and flautist Helen Rathbun is brought to life by the lovable Baker Bobbie (Anie Richer, actor), alongside her musical companions. Together, they provide a fun and educational framework for the music being performed. Young audiences will have the opportunity to meet the performers and sample a freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie at the end of the program.  

The Knights of Stringbury follows the story of the Baker, transformed as a princess, (Baker Bobbina) stumbling upon a sleeping squire, alone in the enchanted forest.  He has been separated from his accompanying knights on their quest to carry out a decree from the king: a dragon in the area must be stopped from hoarding the chocolate chip cookies, known and loved throughout the kingdom.  Music from the well-loved Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel to quartet movements by Haydn, Mozart and Schubert are interspersed in this magical, musical fairy tale.  A sampling of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie sends concertgoers off on a sweet note.
